How to enjoy the Momijiyama Garden in the early summer

初夏、紅葉山庭園を楽しむ方法

The Momijiyama Garden in Sumpu Castle Park is comprised of four parts: the Garden of the Village, the Garden of the Sea, the Garden of the Mountain, and the Garden of the Mountain Village.

駿府城公園の紅葉山庭園は四つの部分から成り立っています。里の庭、海の庭、山の庭、山里の庭です。

Each part represents beautiful natural scenes in Shizuoka Prefecture.

それぞれの部分は静岡県の美しい自然の景色を表しています。

The Garden in the Village provides peaceful village scenes filled with many types of flowers.

里の庭は様々な花のある平和な里の景色を見せてくれます。

The Garden of the Sea has a big pond, where a white-gravel shore with pine trees represents Miho-no-Matsubara, which is a well-known destination for viewing Mt. Fuji.

海の庭には大きな池があります。そこには松の木がある白い小石の岸辺があり、それは富士山を眺めるのに有名な景勝地、三保松原を表現しています。

Wild rocks in the pond symbolize the rocky beaches on the Izu Peninsula.

池にある荒々しい岩は伊豆半島の岩の多い海岸を象徴しています。

The Garden of the Mountain imitates Tsuta-no-hosomichi, which is a famous ancient route to cross the Utsunoya mountain pass.

山の庭は宇津ノ谷峠を越える有名な古代の道である蔦の細道に似せています。

The miniature Mt. Fuji attracts people to the Garden of the Mountain Village.

小さい富士山は山里の庭に人々を引き付けています。

In the hot summer season, observing the Japanese green maple leaves can be enjoyed in the Garden of the Mountain.

暑い夏、山の庭で青紅葉を眺めることが楽しめます。

The entrance to this part is like a　scene in the movie My Neighbor Totoro.

その入り口はまるで映画、となりのトトロのようです。

Upon entering the tunnel of green maple leaves, you will immediately find a small stream, which creates a cool ambience.

青紅葉のトンネルを入るとすぐに小川があり、涼やかな雰囲気を醸し出します。

Trees offer perfect shade against the shiny sunlight on a hot summer day.

木々のおかげで暑い夏の日、眩しい日差しが遮られます。

And the place is filled with comfortable negative ions from the stream.

そしてその場所は小川からの心地よいマイナスイオンで満ちています。

A few minutes’ walk into this garden leads you to the end of the river, which forms two small double-tiered waterfalls.

この庭を2，3分歩くと川の端に行きます。そこには二重の滝があります。

The entire atmosphere makes us forget that we are in Sumpu Castle Park, in the central area of Aoi Ward.

そこにいると、葵区中心部にある駿府城公園にいるのだということを忘れてしまいます。

Now, we can also enjoy viewing beautiful hydrangeas in the Momijiyama garden.

今、紅葉山庭園では美しいアジサイを見ることも楽しめます。
