Surface&Architectureのjournalでは、S&Aの新しいメンバーでトルコ出身のMerve（メルヴェ）によるデザインレポートを全10回にわたり公開していきます。レポートでは、毎回2023年のデザイントレンドをテーマとして設定し、グローバルな視点で考察していきます。

Embracing cultural diversity and identity in design has become more critical than ever. As design evolves, it not only mirrors our society's varied cultures and identities but also shapes our collective consciousness. By incorporating a broad spectrum of experiences, backgrounds, and identities, designers are playing an influential role in fostering inclusivity and promoting global understanding. These artists, among others, are leading the way in celebrating cultural diversity and identity within their work. Their creations don't just mirror society's diversity; they actively contribute to a broader understanding and acceptance of it. It is not only enhancing the richness and depth of design but also playing a crucial role in fostering cultural understanding and inclusivity.

•   Ping Hatta - Known for her vibrant and lively illustrations, artist Ping Hatta creates art that celebrates cultural diversity and identity. Her work is a testament to the power of design to embody and honor our diverse world, using art as a medium to connect, inspire, and uplift.

•   Neka King - Neka King's mural art represents the richness of different cultural backgrounds and is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusivity. Through her powerful visuals, King's work echoes the stories and experiences of marginalized communities, promoting a more humane understanding and treatment of all individuals.

Through systematic sketch exercises, TienMin Liao’s work emphasizes harmonious pairings of Latin and Kanji characters, promoting shared personality over visual similarity. Showing valuing cultural similarities and seeking innovation, creative space can be expanded greatly.
- ティエンミン・リャオのバイリンガル・レタリング： ラテン語と漢字の書体 - このプロジェクトは、中国語と日本語の書体を中心に、タイポグラフィ分野での文化的な多様性の価値を探求しています。必要なグリフに課題があるにもかかわらず、カスタムレタリングの需要は増えています。ティエンミン・リャオの作品は、体系的なスケッチの練習を通じて、ラテン文字と漢字の調和がとれた組み合わせを強調しており、視覚的な類似性よりも、個性の共有を促進しています。文化の共通点を受け入れつつ、新しいアイディアを追求することで、より広い創造の場が生まれています。
