残り30日！!

なぜこの短期間で英語力を高めたいのか？
という背景はこちらからどうぞ🙇‍♂️

スマホ版ChatGPT4を活用した
英会話レッスンを2日前から始めて以降、
歩きでの移動時間や
家の中でのスキマ時間を見つけては
AIに話しかけ続けてきました。

1回の会話は10分～20分くらいと短めですが、
iPhoneのスクリーンタイム機能で
ChatGPTの使用時間を見てみたら
この二日間は毎日1時間以上は
AIと英会話をしていたようです。
"チリも積もれば山となる…！！"ですね✨

ところで今夜は、先週金曜日に続いて
2回目の英会話レッスンでした。

イーオンのオンラインレッスンでは
ネイティブスピーカーの方が多いのが
特徴で、前回も今回もイギリス人の
先生を予約しました。

ChatGPTとの英会話練習が功を奏したのか
自己紹介や、来月にイギリスの学会に
参加するので33日間の短期間で
集中的に英語を学んでいます。などの話で
会話が予想以上に盛り上がりました！

最後に、イギリス英語を学びたいのですが
何か良い教材はありますか？
できればビジネス英語だと嬉しいです。
と質問したところ、
以下の3つをオススメしてくださいました。

(1) BBC website
　  お馴染みですが、時事ニュースも豊富

(2) English with Lucy
　  YouTube登録者数1050万人!!の人気チャンネル

(3) The Office (drama)
　  オフィスを舞台にしたコメディドラマ

ドラマ「The Office」は初耳でしたが
レビューを読んでみると
とても面白そうでした！！

実はChatGPTとの英会話練習では
"subway"を"underground"や、
"elevator"を"lift"のように、
イギリス英語の単語を優先的に
使って会話をしてもらうことは
できるのですが、イギリス英語の
発音には設定ができないみたいです。

なので、イギリス英語のアクセントを
リスニングできる機会が欲しいなぁと
思っていたので、今回の先生の提案は
凄くありがたかったです！

英語学習者の多くの方々は、おそらく
アメリカ英語を勉強されていることと
思いますが、イギリス英語を学ぶ方々の
何かのご参考になれば幸いです。

I asked AEON's English teachers about British English materials.

Only 30 days left... until I travel to the UK to attend a conference!

Since I started English conversation lessons using the smartphone version of ChatGPT4 two days ago, I have continued to talk to the AI whenever I find a short time when I am walking or at home.

Each conversation is short, about 10 to 20 minutes, but looking at the time spent on ChatGPT using the iPhone's screen time function, it seems that I've been having English conversation with AI for more than an hour every day for the past two days. "Many a little makes a mickle..!!"  ✨

Tonight was my second English conversation lesson, after last Friday.

AEON's online lessons feature more native English speakers, and I booked a British teacher both last time and this time.

The English conversation practice with ChatGPT was successful and I introduced myself and said that I am learning English intensively in a short period of 33 days because I am going to attend a conference in the UK next month. The conversation went better than expected with stories such as!

Finally, I asked if there were any good materials for learning British English. Preferably business English would be great. He recommended the following three materials.

(1) BBC website
　Familiar, but also has lots of current news
(2) English with Lucy
　A popular YouTube channel with 10.5 million subscribers!
(3) The Office (drama)
　Comedy drama set in an office
　*Subtitled version available on Amazon Prime(as of February 2024).

I had never heard of the drama The Office, but reading the reviews it sounded very interesting!

In fact, in English conversation practice with ChatGPT, I could ask the teacher to give priority to British English words, such as "underground" for "subway" or "lift" for "elevator", but it seems that I cannot set the pronunciation to British English.

So I would like to have a chance to listen to British English accents, so I was very grateful for his suggestion!

Many English language learners are probably studying American English,
but I hope this will be of some help to those learning British English.
