地雷を見つけたら慎重に掘り出す。
できた穴に次の一歩を踏み出す。

これを繰り返すのだった。

若者は賭け事がきらいだった。
黙々と地面を掘り続けるのだった。

ところで、それは地雷ではなかった。
若者が掘り出したのは、古い壷だった。

とりあえず蓋を開けてみた。

壷の中から黒い煙が吹き出てきた。
やがて煙は大男に姿を変えた。

大男は若者を見下ろした。
「わしは魔人である！」

怖い顔だが、表情は明るい。
「壷の外は千年ぶりだ」

壷は魔人を封じ込めていたものらしい。

「礼として、ひとつだけ願いを叶えてやるぞ」
魔人は約束した。

もちろん、若者は大喜び。
