初めまして、この度新しく note をはじめることになりました芦田舞です。

今日を初投稿の日にしたのには実は理由があります。ちょうど 1 年後の 2020 年 9 月 1 日、夫（芦田創）の「運命の日」となります。
それは彼が出場予定の 2020 年東京パラリンピック T47 走り幅跳びの決勝の日なのです。　

（パラ陸上の代表選考は今年 11 月のドバイでの世界選手権で 1 位 - 4 位をとること、または 2019/04-2020/04 の世界ランキング順で決まるので内定の発表はまだ先となります。）

まだ出会う前の 2016 年のリオデジャネイロパラリンピックの時、夫は 4×100m リレーと走り幅跳びに出場をしました。リレーでは銅メダルを獲得し一見輝かしい結果を残せたように思えますが、個人種目の走幅跳では思うように結果が残せず悔しい思いをしたそうです。試合直後には既に 2020 年でリベンジする事を目標に新たなスタートを切っていました。

私はこのチャレンジ期間の 3 年のうち 1 年半を共にし、応援してきました。今となっては、東京パラリンピックはとても身近に感じていますが、私は彼と出会う前まではパラリンピック競技を見ることも、陸上競技を観戦することもありませんでした。普段は IT 企業に務めていて陸上とはかけ離れた生活をしているので、フルタイムで陸上選手をしている夫と毎日会話する中だったり、試合を観戦したりする中で新しい発見と学びが多くあります。

そんな私のレンズから見るパラリンピックの世界や陸上の事を発信することで、少しでも多くの人にパラリンピックや陸上を身近に感じてもらえたら嬉しいなと思い note を始めることにしました。

My name is Mai Ashida. And today marks the first day of my blog!

There is actually a reason why I chose today as the date to start. Exactly one year from today, 1st of September 2020, will be my husband's (Hajimu Ashida's) X day.
It is the day he will compete in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic games in the T47 long jump event.

(The qualifications for the 2020 para-athletics in Japan is a. ranked 1st-4th in the World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai this November or b. world ranking based on the best results over the qualifying period of 2019.04-2020.04, so his participation is yet to be officially announced.)

Earlier before I met my husband, he participated in the 4x100m relay and long jump at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. His relay team won the bronze medal, but he felt miserable as he could not jump at his full potential in the long jump event. Immediately after the competition, he had already made up his mind to take revenge at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.

We have been together for almost half those years since he started his new journey to win at the 2020 Paralympics. Although I can now proudly say that I can relate a lot to para-athletics, I had never watched any para games nor watched athletics before I met him. I currently work at an IT firm and it has nothing to do with athletics or sports, so it was a totally new world to me and I learned so many new things from my full-time athlete husband.

I decided to start this blog because just like I was clueless about the Paralympics/Athletics 1.5 years ago, I assume many people are too. So I want to share the learnings and stories through my lens and hopefully make people feel more relatable to this sports event.

The final year of preparation will be exciting and challenging so I hope you will continue to read my blog and join us in our journey!
