TEDWomen 2023は、2023年10月11〜13日まで、ジョージア州アトランタを新しいホームとして開催され、世界の民主主義の未来、ロシアとウクライナでの自由の追求、生存者の回復への道などについての感動的で幅広いセッションのトークとパフォーマンスでスタートしました。
TEDWomen 2023 kicked off in its new home of Atlanta, Georgia with a moving and wide-ranging session of talks and performances about the future of global democracy, the pursuit of freedom in Russia and Ukraine, the path to recovery for survivors and more.

そしてTEDWomen2023大成功の翌週、10月21日、TEDxAnjoWomen2023が安城市アンフォーレにて、TEDWomenから２人のトークを含む、6人のリアルスピーカーを交えて開催されました。このブログでは、TEDxAnjoWomen2023、後半のセッション 2を紹介します。

The week following the resounding success of TEDWomen 2023, on October 21st, TEDxAnjoWomen2023 took place at Anforet, Anjo City. The event featured six live speakers, including two talks from TEDWomen. In this blog, we will introduce the second session of TEDxAnjoWomen2023.

1. Nathalie STUTZMANN, Music director, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (video from TEDWomen2023)/ ナタリー・ストゥッツマン、音楽監督・アトランタ交響楽団（TEDWomen2023LIVE動画より）

TEDxAnjoWomen セッション2は、TEDWomen2023 セッション1から、アトランタ交響楽団の音楽監督ナタリー・ストゥッツマンの紹介トークから、室内楽グループ、The Merian Ensembleのパフォーマンスをお送りしました。
この室内楽グループはフルート、オーボエ、クラリネット（バス）、ハープ、およびビオラからなるもので、ニコール・チェンバーレン作曲「アトランタ」の感動的で心を運ぶパフォーマンスでTEDWomenがスタートしました。
Session 2 of TEDxAnjoWomen featured a performance by the chamber music group, The Merian Ensemble, introduced by Natalie Stutzmann, the music director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, following Session 1 of TEDWomen2023.
Chamber music group The Merian Ensemble open the week with an evocative and transporting performance of Nicole Chamberlain’s “Atalanta” for flute, oboe, bass clarinet, harp and viola.

ナタリーはパリで指揮をしているためTEDWomenでもビデオメッセージで登場。
長い間、交響楽団の指揮者は男性がするものと思われていたため、彼女は指揮者になることを推奨されなかったそうですが、彼女はアメリカのメジャーな交響楽団で2人目の女性指揮者として、現在、アトランタ交響楽団で指揮者を務めています。
彼女の両親は歌唱の才能を奨励し、彼女自身も長い間、歌手としてのキャリアを追求していました。ところが、ある夜、誰かが指揮者になるための指導を受けているのを聞いて、ゆっくりと指揮者になろうと思い始めたそう。
素晴らしい音楽家たちと一緒に演奏するとき、指揮者の手で彼らを導き、天才の作曲家たちの作品を演奏するとき、手に感じる感覚は何ものにも代えがたいものがあります。指揮をしているとき、これが本当にいるべき場所だと感じるように、皆さんもまた、TEDトークを聴いたり、ディスカバリーセッションに参加したり、お互いにつながったりするためにアトランタに来た世界中の女性と男性のリーダーのコミュニティの一部であることを自覚していると思います。
At TEDWomen, Natalie made an appearance through a video message as she was conducting in Paris. For a long time, it was believed that the role of conducting symphony orchestras was reserved for men. As a result, she was discouraged from pursuing a career as a conductor. However, she currently serves as the conductor for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, being the second woman to hold such a position with a major American symphony.
Her parents encouraged her singing talents, and she had been pursuing a career as a singer for a long time. However, one night, after hearing someone receive guidance on becoming a conductor, she slowly began to consider the role for herself.
The sensation she feels in her hands when leading musicians with her baton, performing the works of genius composers, is unparalleled. When conducting, just as she feels she's truly where she's meant to be, she believes the global community of women and men leaders who have come to Atlanta to listen to TED talks, engage in Discovery sessions, and connect with one another must feel they are part of something significant. They are immersed in the spirit of TEDWomen2023.

2. Akari KAWAGUCHI, Application Developper/ 川口明莉、アプリ開発者

小学校1年生からプログラミングを始めて６年が経ちました！
今でも当時のワクワクをそのまま感じさせるトークをしてくれたのはアプリ開発者の川口明莉。
図工の授業、レゴが好きで、想像したものが作れる喜びを知ったこと。
プログラミングにもそれと同じ楽しみがあるのを見つけて夢中になった。
作るだけじゃなく、共有ボタンで、世界中の人とも共有できる！
お気に入りやフォロー機能があって、コメントもらったら、もっとハッピーになれた！
彼女が手がけた節水アプリ。単に節水を呼びかけるだけでなく、節水すると海の魚が増えるワクワクする機能もあり、彼女ならではの視点でゲーミフィケーションを巧く組み込んだ。
そして、楽しさ、ワクワクを追求したらアジアNo1になった。でも、チームで開発する苦労も味わった。それでもサミットにも参加できた楽しさが勝った。苦労を一緒に乗り越えた友達。
将来の夢はまだ決まってないけど、プログラミングで得た経験は役立つという。やりたいことがもっと増えそう！
今でもワクワクするって、もっと多くの人にプログラミングの楽しさが伝わって欲しいと彼女は笑顔で締め括った。
I started programming in the first grade of elementary school, and it's been six years since then!
Akari Kawaguchi, an app developer, still makes me feel the same excitement I felt back then.
I loved art classes and playing with Legos, and I discovered the joy of being able to create what I imagined. I found the same pleasure in programming and became obsessed with it. It's not just about creating; there's a share button to share with people all over the world! There are favorite and follow features, and when I receive comments, it makes me even happier!
She developed a water-saving app. It doesn't just call for water conservation; there's a fun feature where the number of fish in the sea increases when you save water. She cleverly incorporated gamification from her unique perspective.
Pursuing fun and excitement made her number one in Asia. However, she also experienced the challenges of developing in a team. Still, the fun of participating in the summit prevailed. Friends who overcame the challenges together.
She hasn't decided on her future dream yet, but she believes the experience she gained from programming will be useful.
She feels like there's so much more she wants to do! She hopes more people will understand the joy of programming and ended with a smile, saying she still feels the excitement."

3. Yasuko AKUTSU, Aging and Healthcare Design Researcher/ 阿久津靖子、エイジング＆ヘルスケア・デザイン研究者

2010年のまさに今日10月21日は、孤独死をした母親の命日だった。
当時、母親に声をかけてくれるのは、警備センサーが発する「お帰りなさい」だけ。もし、いつでもそばにいて会話してくれるロボットがいたら、と、今でも阿久津は悔やむ。
ある人の推薦で、還暦になった2018年、Aging2.0の日本アンバサダーになり、高齢者を世界のネットワークの中で考えるコミュニティに参加する様になった。あれから５年、ChatGPTもSNSも日常的に使い、今年はカナダに出張した時は、Uberで移動、GoogleMapで目的地に辿り着き、宿はAirBnBで民泊を利用した。テクノロジーを上手く使えば、なんでもできる、私の様な高齢者でも。世界では、官民学、様々は領域を越えてエイジ・テック（Age-tech）を研究していて、今、世界でトレンドになっている。しかし、そういう場に日本から行っても、日本の大企業の姿が全くなく、興味がない様に映る。
日本では高齢者向けのテクノロジーといえば、介護向けのテクノロジー（Care-tech）で、そこにはいつまで経っても受け身の姿勢しかない、介護保険の中だけの仕組みがある。
誰でも高齢者になり、身体、認知能力が悪くなる。それでも、テクノロジーの力を積極的に借りて普通に暮らしたい、と彼女は言う。
カナダにはLeapのような高齢者だけでなく若い人も巻き込んでいく仕組みがあり、脳科学をベースとして、当事者である高齢者と若い人たちと、コ・デザイン（Co-design）していく。
日本の60％の資産1200兆を65歳以上が保有し、2050年には世界の人口60歳以上の人口は倍になる。その時に、エイジ・テック（AgeTech）は世界のメイン市場になるのは明らかだ。
高齢者は体験の宝庫。その体験をベースにして、エイジ・テック（Age-tech）を日本発でコ・デザイン（Co-design）し、世界の超高齢化社会を日本から作っていければ。
日本にはきめ細やかさやアトムやドラえもんが生まれたカルチャーがある。
そんな日本なら、テクノロジーを使った新しいワクワクする社会ができると思う。
On this exact day, October 21st, 2010, it was the death anniversary of my mother who died alone. At that time, the only voice that greeted my mother was the security sensor's "Welcome home." Even now, Akutsu regrets and wonders if things would have been different if there was a robot by her side to talk to her at all times. On someone's recommendation, in 2018, when she turned sixty, she became the Japan Ambassador for Aging2.0 and began participating in a community that thinks about the elderly within a global network. In the five years since then, she has regularly used ChatGPT and social media. This year, when she went on a business trip to Canada, she traveled via Uber, found her destination with Google Map, and stayed in a private residence booked through AirBnB. Technology can make anything possible, even for an elderly person like me. Globally, government, private, and academic sectors are all researching age-tech, which is currently trending. However, even when attending such international events, there seems to be no presence of big Japanese corporations, giving the impression that they are not interested.
In Japan, when we talk about technology for the elderly, it's often limited to technology for caregiving (Care-tech). This is characterized by a passive attitude, constrained within the structure of the long-term care insurance system.
Everyone becomes elderly, with physical and cognitive abilities deteriorating. Yet, she says that she wants to actively harness the power of technology to live a normal life. In Canada, there are initiatives like Leap that involve not only the elderly but also the younger generation.
They use neuroscience as a foundation and co-design solutions with both the elderly and young participants.
In Japan, 60% of the assets, amounting to 1,200 trillion yen, are held by those aged 65 and above. By 2050, the global population aged 60 and above will double. It's clear that AgeTech will become a primary market worldwide by then.
The elderly are a treasure trove of experiences. If we can base Age-tech on these experiences and co-design it originating from Japan, we can pave the way for a global aging society from Japan. Japan has a culture of fine details, where characters like Atom (Astro Boy) and Doraemon were born. I believe that with such a culture, Japan can create an exciting new society utilizing technology.

4. Sessai, Transgender activist/ 雪齋、トランスジェンダー活動家

小学校3年生の時に自分の性に目覚め、生きずらさを抱えて男性として生きてきた。50代後半、会社が倒産し家族がバラバラになった。
そこで思った。ピンチはチャンス、女性として生きたいと、還暦の年にカミングアウトした。
性の多様性というが、身体、性的嗜好、自己、表現、様々な視点から見る多様性があり、facebookには現在58種類の性別がある。ある調査では8.9％が性的マイノリティだ。セクシャリティは1人の人生の中でも揺れ動くことがあるという。
前立腺ガンの疑いがあり病院に行った時に、トランスジェンダーで性別変更しないまま生きていく辛さを味わった。女性と思ってるのに前立腺にガンの疑いが。また、女性の見た目と男性としての身体に病院での対応が辛かった。
選挙の時、投票場でも見た目と性別が違うから受付でわざわざ身分証明書を提示して確認されることで、集団の中でも辱められることがあった。これは本人から了解を得ずに、性的指向や性自認を第三者が公に暴露するアウティングにもつながる。保険証は裏に性別記載を申請できるということが厚労省から2012年に事務連絡が出ているが、現場の認知不足によって余計なアウティングに繋がっている。
外出時にもトイレなどで困ることが多いので、性的マイノリティに配慮したトイレやサイン表記に関わってきて、岐阜県庁で試行錯誤しながら1年以上かかってようやくできた。また、選挙の時の入場券の性別記載も撤廃された。アイデアを当事者とともに考えることでマイノリティに優しい社会に繋がり、それが全ての人が普通に自然体で生きられる社会につながると思う。
人間には、無意識の差別や偏見があるので、もう少し視野を広げて見てほしい。身近なところを改善するだけで、社会全体にとっても意味のある大きなことになることがあるのだから。
In the third grade of elementary school, I became aware of my gender identity and faced challenges living as a male. In my late 50s, my company went bankrupt, and my family fell apart. That's when I realized that every crisis is an opportunity, and I decided I wanted to live as a woman. I came out in the year I turned 60. When we talk about gender diversity, we mean diversity in terms of physicality, sexual preferences, self-identity, expression, and more. Currently, Facebook recognizes 58 different genders. According to a survey, 8.9% of the population identifies as a sexual minority. It's important to understand that one's sexuality can fluctuate throughout their life.
When I went to the hospital due to suspicions of prostate cancer, I experienced the pain of living as a transgender individual without undergoing gender transition. Despite identifying as a woman, the possibility of having cancer in my prostate was a jarring reminder. Additionally, the hospital's treatment towards someone who looks like a woman but has a male body was challenging to endure.
During elections, because my appearance and gender did not align, I was often asked to present my identification for verification at the polling stations. This made me feel humiliated in public. Such actions can lead to "outing" – the act of revealing someone's sexual orientation or gender identity without their consent. Although the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare issued a notice in 2012 stating that one could apply to have their gender listed on the back of their insurance card, a lack of awareness at the ground level has unintentionally resulted in further unwanted outings.
When going out, I often faced challenges, especially when using restrooms. I became involved in the creation of toilets and signage that take into account the needs of sexual minorities. After over a year of trial and error, we finally established such facilities at the Gifu Prefectural Office. Additionally, the gender notation on election admission tickets has been abolished. I believe that by brainstorming ideas with the people directly affected, we can build a society that is kinder to minorities, leading to a society where everyone can live naturally and comfortably. Humans inherently have unconscious biases and prejudices, and I wish for people to broaden their perspectives. By making small improvements in our immediate surroundings, we can bring about significant, meaningful changes for society as a whole.

セッション２、アトランタ交響楽団指揮者ナタリー・ストゥッツマンの紹介から室内楽グループの演奏が終わったあとは、TEDxAnjo初期メンバーでキュレーターの尾竹花保里さん、過去のスピーカーである『ヒーローズ』の紹介がありましたのでここで紹介いたします。
