深夜、こっそり家を抜け出た。

中学の同級生数人と待ち合わせ
みんなで地元の高原に登った。

仲間のひとりが見慣れぬ避妊具を持っていた。

夜の高原で女の子に出会うかもしれない。
そんなことを想像していたらしい。

高原へ続く真っ暗な山道は、当然ながら
女の子どころか、雌犬一匹さえいなかった。

歩きながら、色々なことを喋った。

教室では話せない話題だったはずだが
どんな内容か、もう忘れてしまった。

高原の上、展望台の下で、焚火をした。

焚火を囲み、やはり色々なことを喋った。
当時の流行歌とか合唱したかもしれない。

その時、まったく突然、焚火が爆発した。

みんな驚いた。
わけがわからなかった。

けが人はいなかったが、危なかった。　
見ると、ズボンに穴が空いていた。

学生服は石炭からできているんだよな
などと思ったことを憶えている。

調べてみると、どうやら焚火の熱で
乾電池が爆発したらしい。

それらしき破片があった。

なぜ乾電池が焚き火の中に入っていたのか
いくら考えてもわからなかった。

仲間の誰かが捨てたのかもしれないが
あの時、誰も名乗り出なかった。

みんな軽薄で危険な年頃だったのだ。

あの高原での爆発だって、花火みたいで
いくつもの楽しい思い出のひとつだ。

Fireworks on the Plateau

Midnight, I secretly left the house.

We met with some of the junior high school classmates,
and everyone climbed the local plateau.

One of my colleagues had unfamiliar contraceptive devices.

We may meet a girl at night in the plateau.
He seems to have imagined such a thing.

Naturally, not a girl nor a female dog even
had a dark mountain trail leading to the plateau.

While we were walking, we talked a lot.

It should have been a topic that
we can not talk about in the classroom,
but I forgot what it is.

On the plateau, under the observation platform,
we burned a fire.

We surrounded the fire and we talked about various things.
We might have chorused a popular song or something.

At that time, all of a sudden the explosion caught fire.

Everyone was surprised.
We did not know the reason.

There was no injured person, but it was dangerous.
As I looked it was a hole in my pants.

I remember thinking that student clothes are made from coal.

When we looked it up,
apparently the batteries exploded with the heat of the fire.

There was a piece like it.

I could not figure out why batteries were in the fire.

It may be that someone of the companions has thrown away,
but no one came up with it at that time.

Everyone was a light and dangerous age.

An explosion in that plateau is like fireworks,
it is one of many fun memories.
