Ah, I think I will hang God
Upside down from an old, dead apple tree.
And make the uncaring throng passing by,
As he strives to disentangle himself at his root,
reaching up to that,
Oh, see that; that hanged foot----the suffering fruit of God!
ああ、私は神を古く枯れたリンゴの木に逆さに吊るそうと思う。
そして、通り過ぎる無関心な群衆を
根元で自分を解き放とうと努力するように、
その吊るされた足を
ああ、あの吊るされた足を見上げよう---神の苦しみに満ちた果実を！
