今月、ニューヨークで、ダリオ・アルジェントの大規模な回顧展が開かれる。リンカーンセンターとシネチッタ（イタリア文化省）の主催。

その名も「ダリオ・アルジェントを見よ！　Beware of Dario Argento : A 20 Film Retrospective」だ。

リンカーンセンターで、６月１７日〜２９日。ダリオ・アルジェントも登壇する。詳しくは以下の記事を参照。

「２０の映画で振り返る」のタイトルどおり、アルジェントの２０作品が一挙上映される。過去作の多くは４Kデジタル・リストレーション版。同時に、新作「Dark Glasses」が北米プレミア上映される。（下にラインナップ）

アルジェントも８０歳代となり、「Dark Glasses」が最後の作品とも目される。ホラーの巨匠の総決算という趣きだ。

アルジェントは、イタリアのジャーロ最高の監督だが、ジョン・カーペンターの「ハロウィン」への影響や、ジョージ・ロメロとの共同製作などを通じて、現在のホラーの主流を作った。

１９８０年代後半以降は低迷が言われ、新作の評判も芳しくない。（それはおととい書いた）

一方、「サスペリア」がリメイクされるなど、後続世代からの再評価の流れがある。２０１２年にも同じニューヨークのミュージアム・オブ・アーツ・アンド・デザインで回顧展があった。今回の回顧展が、さらに弾みとなるかもしれない。

おとといも書いたが、「映画秘宝」が生き残っていれば、特集したかもしれない。しかし、それによって、日本では逆に「色物扱い」が続いたかもしれない、と思う。

以前、吉本ばななさんがアルジェントについて熱く語っているのを読んで、「同世代だなあ」と感じたものだ。

見る人が見れば、私の作品はイタリアのホラー映画監督、ダリオ・アルジェントの映像にそっくりだということが、すぐにわかってしまう。文章と映像を比べるのも乱暴な話だが、私はいつもああいう映像を頭の中に描きながら、ああいう世界に近づこうとしながら書いている。「サスペリア」の頃からずっと、彼と私の生涯のテーマがよく似ているのを私は肌で感じていた。（吉本ばなな「パイナップリン」）

アルジェントの黄金期に青春を送った世代としては、日本でもぜひ同様のフェスを開いていただき、アルジェントの「正当な」評価につながってほしいと思うのだ。

以下が、今回上映される２０作品だ。「ビッグ・ファイブ・デイ」のようなホラー以外の作品（私も見たことがないコメディ映画）や、「ドュー・ユー・ライク・ヒッチコック？」のようなテレビ映画が含まれる一方、「ジャーロ」（２００９）が入っていないのが目を惹く。アルジェントの選択なのだろう（まあ、あれは入れない方がいい・・）。
