前回、Richard St. John の有名なスピーチ、8 Secrets of Sucess. についてTED鉄板スピーチセオリーの

Simple （単純明快）
Unique （独自性）
Concrete （具体性）
Credible （信頼性）
Emotional （感情的）
Story （ストーリー性）

について簡単に説明したところ、もっと英語について解説が欲しいとリクエストいただいたので、今回は英語スクリプト別に解説加えますねー。ちょっと長いんですが、ついてきてくださーい。

前回のTEDについてのSUCCESS説明：

冒頭の挨拶部分：
This is really a two hour presentation I give to high school students cut down to three minutes, and it all started in one day on a plane on my way to Ted, seven years ago. And in the seat next to you is a high school student, a teenager, and she came from a really poor family. And she wanted to make something of her life and she asked me a simple little question. She said what leads to success. And I felt really badly because I couldn't give her a good answer. So I get off the plane and I come to Ted and I think, jeez, I'm in the middle of a room of successful people, so why don't I ask them what helped them succeed and pass it on to kids. 

冒頭にTEDに行く途中の飛行機、まあリッチなビジネスクラスかファーストクラスか、そこに居合わせる貧困層出身の女子高生という対比の概念を入れることにより、現実的にはないだろうけど、ちょっと関心を持ちたくなるシーンを演出し、さらにこれを今の現実の世界に繋げています。見事なスターティングテクニックですね。

1. Passion（情熱）
So here we are, seven years 500 interviews later, and I'm going to tell you what really leads to success, and makes Tedsters tiks,

And the first thing is passion. Freeman Thomas says I'm driven by my passion tests just do it for love, they don't do it for money, Carol colletta says I would pay someone to do what I do. And the interesting thing is if you do it for love, the money comes anyway. 

まず、7年間500にも渡るインタビューをもとに作成、ということでCredible信頼性を演出してますね。そして一つ目のキーワードPassion情熱を説明するのに、きちっと誰が言ったかを明示してCredible信頼性、Concrete具体性を出していますね。

2. Work（勤労）
Work, Rupert Murdoch said the knee, it's all hard work, nothing comes easily, but I have a lot of fun. Did he say, fun rooper. Yes. Testers do have fun working and they work hard. I figured they're not workaholics, their workfrolics.

誰が言ったかを明示するとともにWorkfrolics（働きじゃれあい・造語）を用いいてUniqueなところを演出しています。もちろん、軽い笑いもとってますよね。この出だしの軽い笑い、とっても重要です。皆、心開きますので！

3. Good （上手くなる）
Good. Alice Gurdon says to be successful, put your nose down to something and get damn good at it. There's no magic it's practice, practice, practice, 

上手になる、ことをGoodで示すのが何ともネイティブですね〜。be good atの省略系ですね。

4. Focus（集中）
And let's focus, Norman Jewison said to me I think it all has to do with focusing yourself on one thing, 

集中ですね。中間点のこのあたりはサラッと短く説明するのもコツですね。

5. Push（押しの一手）
And push. David Gallo says push yourself physically, mentally, you've got to push, push, push, you got to push through shyness and self doubt, Goldie Hawn says I always had self doubts, I wasn't good enough I wasn't smart enough, I didn't think I'd make it. Now it's not always easy to push yourself and that's why they invented mother's. Frank Gehry said to me, my mother pushed me.

まさかの「お母さんの一押し」、このユーモアセンス最高ですね！ここで一気に聴衆の心を捉えていますね。ある意味、このユーモアセンスがUnique！

6. Serve（提供）
Serve Sherwin Nuland says it was a privilege to serve as a doctor. Now a lot of kids tell me they want to be millionaires and the first thing I say to them was okay well you can’t serve yourself. You got to serve others something of value, because that’s the way people really get rich.

7. Ideas（アイデア）
Ideas Catster Bill Gates says, I had an idea, founding the first microcomputer software company, I’d say it was a pretty good idea. And there’s no magic to creativity and coming up with ideas, it’s just doing some very simple things, and I give lots of evidence 

この６番目のServeとIdeasはサラッと流していますよね。このようにスピーチの流れに起伏を作ることで聴衆を飽きさせない。これもStoryストーリーメイクの技術の一つですね。

8. Persist（継続）
Persist. Joe Kraus says persistence is the number one reason for success. You got to persist to failure, you got to persist to crap, which of course means criticism rejection assholes and pressure. 

最後の8点目Persist（継続）のところでパンチラインの登場ですね。しょーもないこと(crap)に立ち向かって継続しなきゃいけない、例えば(頭文字で）批判、反対、罵倒に抑圧に負けちゃいけない！ここで一気に笑いをとってエンディング、美しいストーリー展開ですねー。

So, the bigger that, the answer to this question is simple, pay 4000 bucks and come to TED. Or failing that, do the eight things and trust me these are the big eight things that lead to success. Thank you TEDsters for all your interviewers.
