7月20日、ヴィクトリア・アンド・アルバート博物館のChristian Dior展、“Designer of Dreams”へ行ってきました。大変人気のこの展覧会、思いもよらぬ状況でチケットを入手でき、また当日も奇妙なエピソード満載でしたが、2年前のパリでの同展は駆け足で回ったこともあり、今回はその分も挽回すべくと満を持して臨んできました。

パリ展とは異なる今回の特筆すべき点、それはDior自身がイギリスに思い入れを持っており、それを含め再構成された内容になっているということ。

モード（ファッション）はいつの時代も文化の一端を担い、具（つぶさ）にその時代を反映するものですが、Diorの71年に渡る歴史も、ただ単なる一大ブランドの商業至上主義によるクリエイションの変遷ではなく、詳（つまび）らかに時代を体現している、明らかなその一片でした。一つ一つのドレスのドレープがそれらを流暢に物語っていて、そして文化でありアート - Diorはクチュールブランドであることもその理由の一つですが、いつの時代も多くの人を魅了するその意味は、文化たり得るエスプリ（精神）がピース一つ一つから感じられること、そこにあるのだと思います。

Finally I've got the ticket of the Christian Dior exhibition - Designer of Dreams - at Victoria & Albert Museum and went there on 20th July. It's a so popular exhibition (still now) that I didn't think I could got the ticket, but curiously enough there was a coincidence and I've done.

I heard this one was larger than the one in Paris held 2 years ago which I went to but didn't have enough time to see them then, so I was really excited this time.

There are some differences from Paris, one of them is that Mr. Dior himself adored Britain, and they reconstitute it in V&A.

Fashion is a part of art and culture all through the ages, it reflects eras obviously as well. This long 71-year history of Christian Dior described each era, and a piece of history. It's not the one just only as a commercial brand. They overwhelmingly taught me that fashion is a kind of art and culture and it's just because Dior always makes people fascinated.
