先日、大変美味なスイカの氷菓との出会い以来、スイカブームです🍉✨

今回は、洋風なフルーツサラダにトライ、初めての組み合わせにまたまたワオ！でした😍✨
工程はスーパーイージー:スイカ＆マスカットをカットして、カッテージチーズと重ねながら器に盛り、頂く直前にオリーブオイルをたらたら＆塩コショウを振りかけ、ミントを散らします。
とってもさっぱり＆ミネラル補給のような心地よさのあるサラダでした🍉🥂

ふと、スイカを選びながら、幼少期に父がスイカを掌で叩いて（しかも、目を瞑って）選んでいた姿がよぎりました。
当時、幼心にも、父のことを若干変わった人だと思ってしまっていたことを反省です､､､父の選ぶスイカはいつも甘くて、大当たりでした。今度教わらないと🍉👋😌👂✨笑

I am so in mood for watermelon these days.
So sweet, juicy, soothing!

Just recently, until I learned watermelon granite with ginger is a delight, I knew only to enjoy them as it is or by smoothies🍉

This time- trying another concept I've visually enjoyed this summer... "watermelon salads".

I enjoyed beautiful posts from Anette-san (@anetteshomecooking ) & Doreen-san (@foodmood_le ) in early July.
To enjoy with mint & salt / cheese / olive oil.. what a juicy, refreshing summer salad✨

I gathered what I had in kitchen along with a fresh cut of watermelon - shine muscat, mint, cottage cheese, good olive oil & salt.
Just cutting the fruits, stacking up with cheese on plate & resting them in fridge- later drizzling olive oil & sprinkling with salt,pepper, and mint just before serving.

So sooo juicy, fresh, and delicious, with just the necessary summer flavors!!
It reminds me, how cooking can be all about fresh ingredients and the combinations✨✨
Such a nice way to enjoy...😍✨

By the way, I have a funny memory about watermelons...
I am not sure in the other parts of the world, but in Japan, especially for older generations - they would slap the watermelon shell to "see (hear) if it's a good one".
Whenever I went shopping with my father in the childhood years, he would slap the watermelons to hear which one to pick- closing his eyes(!!)- I was always marveled, but with a doubt if he's a bit weird😂
But now that I reflect- unless the watermelons are cut, I cannot see/hear the difference - and his picks were always the best... maybe I should ask him to teach me...🍉👋😌👂✨
