なぜこの短期間で英語力を高めたいのか？

英会話も少しずつですが慣れてきて、
もう少し自然で、ネイティブっぽくて、
でも丁寧で品を感じる…
そんな、"こなれ感"がある言い方を
覚えたいなぁと思い始めてきました。

現状の体験プランでの
オンライン英会話レッスンも
今夜と明日の残すところ2回のみ。

自分的に"こなれ感"を感じる、
ありったけのフレーズを準備して、
イギリス人の先生に
「この使い方は合ってますか？」
「最近でも耳にしますか？」
と質問してみようと思います。

英語系YouTuberの方々の動画や
映画などからピックアップした
自分的に"こなれ感"を感じるフレーズは
こちらです。
（あくまで自分の感覚です…😂）

■何かの確認をしたり、予定を伝える時
・be supposed to～
   （～することになっている/～の予定）
※例文
・What time are we supposed to meet there?
　（何時に待ち合わせでしたっけ？）
・What am I supposed to do next?
　（次に私は何をするのでしたっけ？）
・It's supposed to snow today.
　（今日は雪が降るみたい）

■何かの許可を求める時
・Would you mind if I～
・May I suggest～ 
・If you don't mind me asking～

■自分の意見や感情を伝える時
・I'm sure～
・I'm not sure～
・I believe～
・It would be good/great～

■謙虚に何かを伝える時

・As far as I remenber/know
・What makes you～
　（Why do you～はやや攻撃的な印象なので、
　　What makes you～の方が自分好みです）

■その他の個人的に使ってみたい言葉

　（パッと思いついたことだと、）

…ということで、
今後の英会話で使ってみたい
フレーズを書き連ねてみました。

特に最後の
Off the top of my head,～ は
つい、ドヤ顔にならないよう
細心の注意をしようかと…！
（もう使いこなす気でいますが…🤣）

I'm gradually getting used to conversing in English, and I'm starting to think that I'd like to learn how to say things in a more natural, native-like, yet polite and elegant way... with a 'sophisticated' feel to it.

There are only two online English conversation lessons left on the current trial plan, tonight and tomorrow.

I've prepared as many phrases as I can think of that I feel are "sophisticated" and asked my English teacher, "Is this the right way to use this? Do you still hear it these days?"

Here are some phrases I picked up from English YouTubers' videos and movies that I feel are "sophisticated". (But they are just my own feeling... 😂)

■When confirming something or telling someone your plans:
be supposed to~

*Example:
What time are we supposed to meet here?
What am I supposed to do next?
It's supposed to snow today.

■When asking permission for something:
Would you mind if I~
May I suggest~
If you don't mind me asking~

■When expressing your opinion or feelings:
I'm sure~
I'm not sure~
I believe~
It would be good/great~
I'm looking forward to~
Please feel free to~

■When to tell something humbly.
I'd say~
I'm afraid~
As far as I remenber/know
What makes you~
　("Why do you~" sounds a bit aggressive,
　 so I prefer "What makes you~").

■Other words I'd like to use personally:
available
certainly sure
off the top of my head,

So I wrote down a series of phrases that I would like to use in future English conversations.

In particular, the last one, Off the top of my head,~ I'm going to be very careful not to make a smug face..! (I'm already trying to master it though 🤣).

Today, I've ended up talking about a collection of phrases that I personally like to use...
