*b 喝 in Japanese is a sonorous admonition made by a mentor monk to an apprentice monk whose mind is drifting away from mindfulness in meditations to force his thoughts back to reality. Its supposed etymological origin (from 喝 - Wikipedia) is that it represents the pleading sound one makes with mouth (hence the 口 radical) to the dead corpse for the soul to return to it. And from the thirst that develops after a long duration of such lamentation one becomes thirsty which is represented by 渇 with three-drop water radical.
"He--" is also just a pun I made as phonetically in Japanese the Chinese word 喝 is represented as "へー (he-)" , which in English is read differently but written with the same Latin characters.
